The Supermarket - Option 4 - Big - 40,000 sq ft

 

Large supermarket 40,000 square feet. The final proposal would see the demolition of the sports centre and swimming pool to make way for a supermarket similar in size to Tesco's Salterton Road store. A smaller sports centre would built on the estuary side. A 100-space car park would be sandwiched by these two facilities. On the far side of the supermarket, between the estuary and the store, would be retail units, a café and more residential accommodation on top of them. Once again it is difficult to see any merits in this arrangement. The new Sports Centre looks inadequate and it is very remote for people leaving late at night particularly if it is intended to maintain low lighting levels for environmental reasons.
